MatRecord is a tournament tracking app for martial arts competitors, families and schools. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use it.
The short version: your records belong to you. They are stored on your device, you decide what is shared and with whom, and nothing leaves your device unless you send it. MatRecord does not require an account and does not run analytics.
What we collect
MatRecord does not collect your app records or usage data. As the app works today there are no user accounts, no cloud storage, and no analytics, advertising or tracking services. Competitor records, results, photographs, videos, and settings are not sent to MatRecord.
If optional services that store or share data are added in future, they will be exactly that: optional, switched on by you, covering only what you choose, and described here before they take effect. Using MatRecord will never require an account or require you to send your records anywhere.
There is no account to create and nothing to log in to.
Support correspondence
If you contact us for support, we receive the email address, message, and any information you choose to include. We use it only to respond to your request, and retain it only as long as reasonably necessary for support, legal, or security purposes.
That is the only circumstance in which we receive anything from you, and only because you chose to write to us.
What stays on your device
MatRecord stores the following locally:
- Competitor profiles: names, belt ranks, age groups, divisions, photographs
- Tournament records: names, dates, locations, and results
- Score sheets, including any video or photographs you record
- Team rosters and results
- Standings you have copied in from your organization
- Expenses, if you have switched that feature on
- Your settings and preferences
None of it is sent to us.
Deleting your information
You can erase MatRecord's in-app records using its data-reset controls or by deleting the app.
This does not delete files you exported or shared, or photographs and videos saved to your device's gallery. Those items must be deleted separately.
Your device or cloud-backup provider may also retain backups according to your device settings and that provider's policy. On Android, this usually means Google's automatic app backup; on iOS, iCloud Backup. These are your device's arrangements with your device maker, not ours. We receive nothing from them and cannot see or delete them. You can turn them off in your device settings.
When MatRecord uses the internet
MatRecord works entirely offline. It contacts the internet only when you ask it to, and only for these purposes:
Downloading an event list. When you choose to download an event list, MatRecord requests pages from the organization website you selected. That website receives a normal internet request, which may include your IP address, device and browser information, and the requested address. MatRecord does not send your competitor records, results, photographs, or videos with that request.
Opening a link. Standings links, registration pages, staging times and flyers open in your browser or another app. What happens then is between you and that website.
MatRecord does not use analytics, advertising networks, tracking pixels, or crash reporting services.
When you share data
MatRecord can create files containing your data so you can back them up or send them to somebody:
- Full backups
- Results to send to a coach
- Photographs, spreadsheets, and score sheets
You choose whether to create these files and where they go. MatRecord writes them to your device or hands them to your phone's share sheet. It never uploads them anywhere.
If you send a file to somebody else, the information in it is then in their hands. Consider what a file contains before sending it, particularly where children's names and photographs are involved.
Who MatRecord is for
MatRecord is intended for adult competitors, parents, coaches, and school administrators. It is not directed to children.
The competitors whose records it holds are often minors, and the app stores their names, ages, belt ranks, photographs and results. That information stays on the device of the adult who entered it. We never receive it.
Because we collect nothing, there is nothing for us to disclose, sell, or retain, and no record of a child for a parent to request from us. To remove a child's information, delete it in the app, or delete the app, noting what the section above says about exported files and gallery media.
If you are a school or instructor recording competitors who are not your own children, you are responsible for obtaining whatever permission your jurisdiction requires from their parents or guardians.
Permissions MatRecord asks for
Each is used only for the feature it belongs to. MatRecord asks through your device's own permission prompt, and nothing is sent anywhere as a result of granting any of them.

You can refuse any of them. The feature that needs it stops working; the rest of the app carries on. You can change your mind at any time in your device's settings, under Apps → MatRecord → Permissions.
Reminders are worked out on your device. MatRecord reads the tournaments and score sheets you have entered and schedules a notification locally. Nothing about them is sent anywhere, and nothing off your device decides what you are reminded about.
Your organization
MatRecord is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to ATA Martial Arts or any other martial arts organization. It is an independent tool, built by an independent developer.
Standings, schedules and rules shown in the app come from what you have entered or copied in. Always confirm anything that matters with your organization directly.
Security
Your data is protected by your device: its lock screen, its encryption, and whatever backup arrangement you use. MatRecord does not add its own password, because your records are not held anywhere else for a password to protect.
If your device is lost or stolen, whoever holds it can see what is in the app. Use a lock screen. If your records matter to you, keep a backup of your own. There is no copy held anywhere else for us to restore from.
Your rights
Privacy laws in many places give you the right to see what a company holds about you, to correct it, to have it deleted, and to know whether it has been sold or shared.
We hold nothing about you beyond any support correspondence you have sent us. We have never sold or shared personal information. If you have written to us and want that correspondence deleted, ask and we will delete it.
Your app data is on your device and under your control: edit it in the app, delete individual records, or remove the app.
Changes to this policy
MatRecord may in future offer optional services that involve a server, such as backing up your records or sharing them with a coach or a family member who has agreed to receive them. Anything of that kind will be optional, will be switched on by you rather than for you, will cover only what you choose to include, and will send it only to people you have approved.
Nothing of that sort is in the app today. If it is added, this policy will be updated first, and the change made clear in the app before it takes effect. Keeping your records solely on your own device will remain a supported way to use MatRecord.
